POSTURE AND PLACE

Hebrews 10: 12 "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;"

This resurrected, glorified, sitting Saviour is evidence to all who believe that his life and death finished the sin-atoning work God gave him to do. One, he sits. Two, he sits at the right hand of God. This is the posture of one whose work is accomplished—the place of honor for one full of glory. By his one offering he made God's favored people eternally perfect. Because he sat down on the right hand of God believers have assurance that God remembers their sins and iniquities no more. His posture and place by God tell us that there is no more offering for sin. When God writes his laws into our hearts and minds we see Christ Jesus the Lord seated at the right hand of God. We rejoice that by his one offering we have boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus to rest in him—he is the new and living way. Priests still stand. The self-righteous still stand. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God. The Justifier's work is done when His satisfied justice rests its case.
