Tried, Precious, and Sure

Isaiah 28:16 “Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste”

Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is that foundational stone laid by God himself before yet the first grain of sand was spoken into existence.

He is a tried stone.  He faltered not under the weight of the law but fulfilled it in every jot and every tittle.  Under the tempting of Satan this tried stone remained strong.  He was mocked and spitefully entreated and spit upon by enemies and bearing the judgement of God Almighty in the place of God’s elect this sure foundation endured that which was determined before to be done.

Christ is a precious stone.  Precious to God for God declared This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.  Satisfied fully with the finished work of Christ, God raised Him from the dead to sit at His right hand till His enemies be made His footstool.  Precious to the recipient of grace when we believe His propitiatory work, when we see Him our Redeemer, our Righteousness, when we understand, though it be in part, the riches of God’s grace toward us in Him!

Christ is a sure foundation—sure to make intercession for His own, sure to gather His own to Himself, sure to lose none.  Christ Jesus the Lord, the solid Rock, in whom there is no danger of erosion but rather He is all sound and sure.

The believer shall not make haste for he waits on the Lord, with all trust laid on the sure, precious, tried cornerstone. On this foundation there is no need of want.  The Lord comforts his people telling them Seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.  For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.  Luke 12:29-30.
